Karin Schwarz, a Brazilian artist, might get sued by Mattel because she portrayed Barbie as a lesbian. "Barbie is a very proper lady and she is not happy about being portraited as something that she isn't," a spokesman from Mattel Brazil said.

The artist stands firm and is unwilling to suspend her "Amazing Girls" exhibition. "Barbie is exploited by Mattel. She wears a bikini, she shows off her belly, has big breasts, and even has a boyfriend", she responded to the accusations.

Whatever Mattel may want people to believe, A Barbie doll is a toy. Aren't people, children or adults, supposed to play with toys in whatever ways they want? Do we also have our freedom of expression to create derivative works of such toys?
